Jordan - 2022
Bit of a flashback to childhood in the 1960s as you ride in small groups in the back of pickup trucks to see Wadi Rum in Jordan.
Visitors Center for Wadi Rum in Jordan seen while looking back from the pickup I was riding in the back of.
Not much to really see here but a lot of movies were filmed in Wadi Rum like Lawrence of Arabia, Prometheus, some Star Wars stuff, etc.

And just because I try to do animal stuff when I can, I did the camel ride here in Wadi Rum, Jordan

There were camels, donkeys, horses, and even electric carts you could purchase transportation on (worth a thought as the hike is about 6 miles roundtrip)

A view of the Dead Sea as seen from my hotel room. I didn’t bother to do the walk down there as the main attraction there was to float in the sea and I didn’t bring swim apparel
Bethany Beyond the Jordan - This location near Bethany Crossing on the Jordan side of the Jordan River is said to be the site where John the Baptist had his ministry and babtised Jesus of Nazareth Note that in those days the Jordan River was much bigger than it is today as dams on its tributaries have restricted the water flow in modern times. Behind the tree on the left is a diversion channel that supposedly brought water from the Jordan River to this location for John the Baptist to use.
In the distance is seen some of the more modern churches & a mosque built to honor the Baptism location of Jesus
The location of the actual Jordan River crossing (Bethany Crossing) which is said to have been the location where Elijah and Elisha crossed the Jordan River in stories from the Gospel of John
The building on the other side of this barely canal width modern Jordan River is in Israel, however if you were to actually try to wade across, I believe the Jordanian Soldiers nearby (whom we are not allowed to take pictures of) would probably shoot you.
